CAMEROON AMPUTEE FOOTBALL: About Amputee Football in Cameroon

Amputee football has not been common in Cameroon but has been very active in some Africa and world countries. It just started in Cameroon and the very first Cameroon Amputee football meeting took place in Bamenda on Saturday 26th January 2019. Immediately after that, there was an exhibition match and interviews.

THE MINUTES FROM THE FIRST MEETING

CAMEROON AMPUTEE FOOTBALL ASSOCIATION

PIONEER GENERAL MEETING/EXHIBITION MATCH

Date: 26^th January 2019

Venue: Bamenda Government school Station

The meeting started at 10am with opening prayer by Bro Elvis, and the lead was taken by the Ngala Maimo who asked all members to introduce themselves.

He then went on telling us that our meeting was legal and had been permitted by the administration. He presented to us all the documents which the DO demanded in order to grant us permit to hold our meeting. He also said some organizations have bought the idea and promise to be of help to the newly formed organization.

It was made known that we need to come out with a plan and each and every one will be given a temporal task. Elvis Dobgima talked about the various laws governing the sporting event. He gave a summary on some laws and emphasized that each member should have a copy of the laws.

He then talked of the last amputee football world cup which was won by Angola and urged us to work hard so Cameroon can be part in the next edition.

Plan of action was presented by Ngala Maimo.

· Create an association

· Set rules and regulations

· Take documents to Yaounde seeking a federation.

A word of advice was given by the regional president for persons with disability for the North West. He advised that there should be honesty and transparency. He promised to help the association with the provision of a venue for any future meetings.

Mr Ngala also talked about the laws of the association and noted that not only the laws of the amputee football will be considered but also our own constitution.

The first set of Jerseys were donated by Mr Usman Mustafa.

It was also noted that we should work towards keeping a legacy and must keep to the constitution if we want to succeed. A question was asked if the association will be only for disable, in it was responded that the team will be for disable but the association also needs persons of goodwill.

Another question was that someone wanted to know if the association will be only about sports or other aspects, but it was made clear that for now it will be for sports only.

Mr Ndonwie Michael asked if the amputees have an organization here and how many members are there, and it was also noted that it is only through the regional president of persons with disability that we can obtain such a record from.

Ø Financial Secretary : Mr Kam Elvis

Ø Adviser 1 : Mr Galabe Henry

Ø Adviser 2 : Mr Ndonwie Michael

Ø Adviser 3 : Ma Ngoh Hannah

Medical and technical expertise will be put in place in the nearest future.

The executive needs to come out with the means or ways of raising fund for the association.

A word from Ma Hannah which she noted that she was very happy to be amongst us and that we have to work as a family to achieve our goals.

We then had photos and changed into our jerseys. We had an exhibition match after the president gave a kick off. After the match, there were interviews and more photos.

Mr Ndonwie supported with 5000frs. Each player was given 1000frs as a token for their transport back home.

The president thanked everyone who made it to the meeting.
